A magnesium anode is applied to coat devices and enameled vessels, e.g. water heaters in order to provide additional protection from corrosion.
Acc. to requirements of DIN 4753 standard, enameled objects must be coated at least to 99,9%. Despite such an effective enameled coating there still may appear air-letting openings which cause the corrosion. In order to avoid it and to protect enameled objects from getting damaged, they are additionally coated by a magnesium anode. Connection of a layer of enameling and magnesium anode assures 100% protection from corrosion. Its operation consists in use of electro-chemical potential difference of a material the vessel and the anode are made from.
